The A.S. degree in Human and Social Services is designed to prepare graduates for a variety of human services occupations common to many social service agencies in both the government and not-for-profit sectors. In addition to training workers to enter directly into the workplace upon completion of the program, students may elect to continue to a four-year program in either Human Services or Healthcare Services Administration.

The human services specialization allows students the flexibility of moving into transfer programs into psychology, social work, human services, sociology and other fields. Occupational titles, depending on educational achievement, of human service workers may include Case Worker, Case Management Aide, Eligibility Counselor, Social Service Aide, Probation Officer, Mental Health Counselor or Crisis Intervention Manager.

The Associate of Applied Science - Online curriculum at Dallas Institute of Funeral Service is designed to meet licensure and funeral service employment prerequisites.

The associate of science degree program provides students with a broad academic education to prepare them for the workplace and for upper-level university study. The degree requirements for the associate of science may be met through LCCC’s university transfer courses or by taking university transfer courses at other recognized colleges and/or universities. Since requirements at transfer institutions vary widely, students should consult the catalog of the transfer institution and plan their program with an advisor. This program focuses on human and spiritual development, the development of tactical skills of interpersonal intervention and the formulation and implementation of effective counseling plans necessary for the successful preparation of those who wish to fulfill their vocation of counseling.

The ASHS requires the successful completion of 60 credit hours of instruction at the lower level (freshman and sophomore years). The ASHS places a strong emphasis on general education courses that will provide a foundation for entry to the BSHS program. General education courses are designed to broaden a student’s educational foundation.
