The Bachelor of Applied Business will provide you with a broad foundation of business skills required for a range of roles in the business world.
This qualification opens doors if you are returning to study, trying out business for the first time or looking for an alternative entry into higher education. Studying business will introduce you to the workings of organisations and their structure, increase your commercial awareness and allow you to build practical knowledge that will be useful for life.
This Degree will also enable you to establish a strong foundation in leadership and entrepreneurial skills, enhancing your ability to think innovatively and work effectively with a diverse workforce, in a modern digital world.
The program adopts an enquiry based learning approach that helps you to develop important problem-solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills relevant to any business.
This qualification allows you to go on to develop a career in the management of large, medium and small businesses, in government, not-for-profit or private sectors, both domestically and internationally.
The first year of the Degree is designed to allow you to customise your course by sampling a range of business disciplines prior to choosing the business discipline in which you will specialise through your major in years two and three.

You may also exit with a Diploma of Applied Business after successfully completing your first eight subjects or an Associate Degree in Applied Business after completing sixteen subjects.
Your Degree fees are only $10,754 per year if you meet the relevant HECS-HELP residency requirements, and studying in a Commonwealth Supported Place.
Bachelor of Applied Business (Marketing)
For admission to the Bachelor of Applied Business, one of the following is required:
- Completion of Year 12, with a score in English of at least 25, or
- An equivalent academic level achievement, or
- At least 2 years of work experience, after leaving school.
All students are required to undergo the online Didasko Literacy and Numeracy Assessment and achieve a pass mark of 60%.
Mature Age Students will be individually assessed and may be offered enrolment into the Bachelor, Diploma or Associate Degree program depending on their learning intention and past academic achievement.

Students who have studied at tertiary level elsewhere, or who have relevant studies or work experience, may be eligible for advanced standing (credit) towards a La Trobe University qualification. Each college has specific policies in respect to the number and type of subjects and work experience it is willing to accept for advanced standing (credit) purposes.
We will inform you of the process for advanced standing at enrolment. However, if at some later point you believe you are eligible for advanced standing, please advise your Student Experience Team as soon as possible. It is preferable that you have advanced standing approved for a subject prior to starting it. Advanced standing must be approved before going through census for that subject.
