The CIEP'S expertise
Ev@lang has been developed by the CIEP's assessment and certifications department. The CIEP has more than 30 years' experience in the field of language assessment. The CIEP tests and awards diplomas in French as a foreign language – DELF (certificate in French language studies), DALF (advanced certificate of French language proficiency), TCF (French competency test), etc, - to more than half a million candidates across a network of 1,200 test centres in more than 170 countries. For Ev@lang, the CIEP has joined forces with a number of partners, including the Arab World Institute in Paris.
A test corresponding to the levels of the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, the CEFRL Ev@lang is aligned with the proficiency levels defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL). It has the added advantage of offering a total of 6 levels of proficiency and 6 subdivisions of these proficiency levels for greater accuracy:
A cost-effective solution
Ev@lang is a flexible test suitable for all assessment needs and all candidate profiles. It is very competitively priced, with users able to choose one or more test units from the options available.
How does Ev@lang work?
Ev@lang is a 100% online test in HTML5 format.
It is managed by a full web application that requires no prior installation and can be used on any type of support (PC, Mac or another computer, tablet or smartphone).
Ev@lang is an extremely versatile tool that can be used by groups or individuals, in the classroom and remotely. It's up to you to choose!
Very user-friendly: candidates simply enter the user details supplied to log in to Ev@lang and take the test.
Everything has been designed to make the assessment process as straightforward as possible: clear instructions, icons to facilitate navigation, a stopwatch to keep an eye on the time, specific instructions for each stage of the test.
With Ev@lang users can also tailor the assessment to their own requirements thanks to a system of individual or multiple test unit combinations (oral comprehension/written comprehension/grammar & vocabulary).
The duration of the test varies depending on the number of individual test units proposed and user performance:
- Minimum duration: 7 minutes
- Maximum duration: 35 minutes
How is the test organised?
Ev@lang is an adaptive test, i.e. the evaluation process adapts in real time to user performance. Each user will thus face a series of questions designed accurately to determine their level of attainment in each of the test units evaluated.
Questions are randomly selected from the Ev@lang database of questions according to procedures developed by the CIEP's teaching and scientific experts.
This design format makes it possible to accurately and instantly calculate the user's language level.
At the end of the process, candidates know immediately their level of attainment for each individual test unit. It is possible to set up Ev@lang so that the results are displayed on the user's screen. It is also possible not to have them displayed and to consult them via the Ev@lang management tool.
Finally, the test centre manager can create and print out a results sheet summarising the levels obtained for each test unit. The management tool's features also include an option to customise this results sheet by adding your logo!
