Prepare for a career at the intersection of art and technology

Students enrolled in Animation programs pursue careers in animation art, character animation, CGI effects, and motion graphics. Concordia-Chicago’s animation coursework focuses on the art and production of moving images, as well as the organizational aspects of the animation field--project development and preproduction. A degree in Animation also prepares students to work in a variety of traditionally “unanimated” subjects as visual learning techniques expand into other knowledge disciplines through the “artification” of history, science, engineering, architecture, broadcasting, education, training, social services, legal, medicine, forensics, and others.

The BA in Animation program at Concordia-Chicago prepares students to:

  • differentiate among the strategies and techniques used in animation industries
  • organise and prepare materials for a variety of presentation methodologies and technologies
  • apply visual learning and motion graphics to a wide range of subjects
  • clarify thinking through processing, prioritizing and visualizing information
  • develop interpersonal skills for working on team projects

The BA in Animation is offered with an optional specialization in either 2D or 3D applications. The specialization requires six additional courses that teach skills and techniques specific to the professional performance of the specialization as well as a capstone project. Please see the curriculum page (blue tab above) for detailed information about the courses required for the base degree in Animation as well as the 2D and 3D specializations.
