In this specialist route available in our BSc (Honours) Natural Sciences (Q64), you’ll develop the knowledge and skills you need to study outer space. You’ll be able to objectively and quantitatively describe, analyse, test and explain phenomena in the Universe, using appropriate quantitative tools and observational methods.

The Summer School "Ancient Egyptian Magic and Astronomy: Texts and Practices" is a 7-day intensive academic program aimed to introduce the students to the study of ancient Egyptian magic and astronomy. Italian and international scholars will hold lessons on magical texts and objects, magical practitioners, ancient astronomy, and astrology, introducing the student to the main instruments and topics and on significant case studies.

This course will teach the theory, methods, and practical application of astrological magic, as practised in the West and the Middle East for the past two thousand years. Historic astrological magic has only been fully rediscovered in the past two decades as older astrological and magical texts were translated into modern languages.

This learning module provides an introduction to modern cosmology and how it explains some experimental facts about our Universe. We start by discussing the homogenous universe described by the FRW spacetime, explain the various components of the matter content, touch on Big Bang Nucleosynthesis, CMB, dark matter, and dark energy. We also discuss motivations for introducing inflation and how it predicts the right kind of fluctuations that lead to the structure formation in our Universe.

This Diploma is designed for anyone who wants a broad overview of the history of astrology, its controversies, the links between astrology, astronomy, and other fields, and various ways astrology has been and is being practised.
