Tecnológico de Monterrey

Introduction

Tecnológico de Monterrey was founded in 1943 thanks to the vision of Don Eugenio Garza Sada and a group of entrepreneurs who formed a non-profit association called Enseñanza e Investigación Superior, A. C.

Tecnológico de Monterrey is a private, non-profit, independent institution with no political and religious affiliations.

The work of Tecnológico de Monterrey and all its campuses is supported by civil associations made up of numerous groups of outstanding leaders from all over the country who are committed to quality in higher education.

Every year, the board members of these civil associations meet to define the goals that will guide the major decisions which will help Tecnológico de Monterrey to meet its objective of driving the development of communities and the nation.

Tecnológico de Monterrey enjoys the support of the national community, which participates in the raffles organized by the institution itself to expand its scholarship program and investment in infrastructure.

Tecnológico de Monterrey enjoys the status of Free University School, which enables it to function as an educational institution.

Purpose

Tecnológico de Monterrey’s goal is to produce information capable of transforming lives.

We use educational experiences to shape individuals into agents of change willing to work for the benefit of all—individuals who take responsibility for their own lives and are aware that their actions can transform others—capable, talented, upright, committed, involved visionaries with a global perspective and entrepreneurial spirit, not only at the university but in all spheres of their lives.

Our student's education is a vital component of our ability to excel. Students are encouraged to transform their economic, political, environmental, and social realities on a social, professional, and personal level.

Vision

"Leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurship for human flourish".

Model Tec21

Tec21 allows the formation of solid and comprehensive skills that will help you creatively and strategically solve the challenges of the present and the future.

Why is it unique?

Our challenge-based learning model is based on four key components:

Challenge-based learning

Student learning during their undergraduate studies is focused on the student's relationship with their teacher and with the environment, in which students develop disciplinary and transversal skills, by solving challenges linked to real problems and demonstrating their mastery through various evidence of learning. In this Model, the central unit of learning is challenged.

Personalization and Flexibility

Before you chose a career, now you choose a path:

1. You will acquire the fundamentals of the area, you will know related careers and you will confirm which career to choose.

2. You will develop the core competencies of your career through more focused challenges while expanding your university experience.

3. You will continue to strengthen skills and give your career your personal touch based on your interests, passions, and plans, through the wide range of concentrations, stays, and certificates available.

Inspirational Teachers

Our professors are protagonists of one of the most profound transformations in Tec's history and of a paradigm shift that has aroused the interest of the national and international academic circles.

What teaching practices distinguish them? They create active learning environments and find in challenges a trigger for the formation of the disciplinary and transversal skills that you require as a student, guiding you to transfer that knowledge to real contexts. In addition, they are up-to-date and linked to their practice and work in a multidisciplinary way.

Admissions

Admission Process

1 Register and complete your online admission process

Use your personal email address to create a user account and generate a password, which you will use to sign in to our ADMISSION PROCESS page. Once there, fill out your admission application and click on “Send application”. Scan and attach your birth certificate in the “Documents” section and send it. If your birth certificate is in a language other than Spanish or English, you will have to scan and attach a translation to Spanish. Afterward, you will receive an email asking you to proceed with step 2.

2 Put together a profile with everything that makes you unique

The resumé contains questions on the achievements, skills, and aptitudes you have acquired and developed throughout your middle school studies. Include your participation in every area, since any achievements in each face-to-face or online discipline you have accomplished since 2017 to date will help you put together an extraordinary resumé. It is important to have evidence of the activities described, since we may ask you to share it with us from time to time.

Hand in your admission documents

Complete your admission file in digital form by sending your documents in the Documentos digitales section inside the admission process page.

  • Afterward, scan and send the following documents to us:
  • Copy of the 10th-, 11th- and 12th- grade transcripts, or the equivalent in your country.

Additional elements: The Admission Committee might request letters of recommendation (no more than three), which can be written by teachers, school officials, a businessman/woman, or a recognized leader from your community. The Committee might also request you to take complementary evaluations, which will be administered at the campus, and an interview with one of the campus directors.

3 Pay the admission process fee

Check the amount you must pay on the admission process page and choose your payment method:

  • Credit card
  • Bank deposit using the referenced deposit slip
  • PayPal

The admission process fee is non-refundable.

4 Schedule and take your tests

Aptitude Test (PA)

The Admissions Committee will determine whether you need to take the test and let you know by email. This test evaluates your mathematics and verbal skills. Since the test is an element that forms part of your admission file, the score obtained is for the internal and exclusive use of the Admissions Committee.
You will receive an email with clear, detailed instructions on taking the test.

We have different tools for you in order to prepare for the PAA

  • PruebaT: it is a diagnostic test that will help you become familiar with the structure and type of questions of the PAA (you have 3 opportunities to use the simulator).
  • PrepáraTec: is an online workshop that you can take at your own pace.
  • On-campus workshops: these are workshops offered on the campus of your choice. Ask your admissions advisor for details.

If your first language is English, you can take the SAT which is equivalent to the PAA.

English test

On the admission process page you can:

Select the date and time when you wish to take the English test. Remember to have with you a valid photo ID on the day of the test.

5 Find out your admission result

Once you have completed the process, the Admissions Committee of Tecnológico de Monterrey will issue the result of your application, which may be:

  • Accepted
  • Not accepted
  • Waitlist
  • Pending decision (it means that we require additional elements; the Admissions manager of the campus of your choice will provide more information).

Some additional elements the Committee may need include:

Note: For your file to be complete, the following requirements must have been validated in your admission application: admission application form, birth certificate, admission process fee, essay, resumé, English placement test, and confirmation of your high school program.
