Introduction
What is the University of Fashion?
The University of Fashion works very differently than most fashion design schools. We don’t charge a separate tuition fee for each individual class you take. Instead, we give you 24/7, on-demand access to all of our many hundreds of full-length video lessons for a low yearly subscription fee. UoF’s lessons are taught exclusively by fashion school professors and industry professionals, never by amateurs. You’ll see the exact same lectures and "how-to" demonstrations taught by the best fashion schools, but without rigid class times at inconvenient locations. Instead, you decide what, when and where you want to learn. The University of Fashion offers lessons in all the major fashion disciplines: draping, pattern making, CAD pattern making, accessories, sewing, fashion art, knits, business, product development, lectures, CAD fashion art, childrenswear and more. Most schools charge a big tuition fee to teach a single fashion subject in a particular fashion discipline, like sewing or pattern making. At the University of Fashion, you will pay a lot less to access every fashion subject in every discipline!

Introduction To Childrenswear Global Sizing This lesson is your introduction to childrenswear. Our downloadable size chart will teach you about global size ranges for the U.S., UK, European and Asian childrenswear market. It covers sizes from newborn to tween. If you are an aspiring childrenswear designer, this lesson is key. Childrenswear illustration courtesy of Seul Lee. Draping A Child’s Bodice Sloper This is your introduction to childrenswear using a child’s dress/pant form, also known as a child’s full form. Once you have downloaded our Children’s Armhole Depth Chart and our Child Bodice Sloper Measurement Form, you are ready to learn how to drape a boy and girl basic bodice sloper. This sloper is the foundation for many of your boy and girl pattern drafts and designs. Another option is to download, print out and cut-out your desired size from the 2-6X Child Bodice Sloper Nest that we have provided with this lesson. Use our Child Sloper Nest Color Map to assist you when cutting. Be sure to view our lesson on how to draft a child’s sleeve sloper from measurements. Drawing Children – Infant & Toddlers This lesson is your key to learning how to draw children. You will learn how to differentiate a child’s age and how to draw body proportions that range among infant, toddler, and child. You will see how the body, face and features progress so that your drawings will accurately reflect that progression. Once you have learned child body proportions, we will teach you how to draw a girl and boy figure for each of the three size ranges: infant, toddler, and child. In addition, you will learn how to draw cute kid faces, poses and garment details. This lesson is sure to inspire you to want to design childrenswear! Other Childrenswear Lessons Once you have mastered the above lessons, learn how to draw a "tween" girl and boy figure Then move on to the female and male croquis figure where you can choose from an assortment of poses. The University of Fashion offers many, many more lessons in Childrenswear. Check them out by clicking the Lessons tab on our homepage at UniversityofFashion.com.
